Collaborative research agreement between NEI/NIH and NISO/NHOTMC to work on genetic eye diseases in Asia

Director of the National Eye Institute (NEI), National Institute of Health (NIH), Dr. Paul Sieving and President of the National Hospital Organization Tokyo Medical Center (NHOTMC), Dr. Junzo Takeda signed the Collaborative Research Agreement to jointly work on genetic eye diseases in Asia, the most densely populated region in the world. 1st Asian Eye Genetics Consortium Meeting
ARVO, Orlando, Florida, USA, May 6, 2014

Asian Eye Genetics Consrotium Kick-Off Meeting was held during the ARVO 2014 meeting in Orlando, Florida. Nine scientists from Hong Kong, India, Japan and USA in photo and Dr. Fielding Hejtmancik from NEI, NIH (on phone) gathered to discussed about the need of data sharing and to promote research of genetic eye diseases in Asia. We all agreeded to identify active Asian scientists working in this field and to establish network by organizing meetings and sessions at Asian local ophthalmology meetings.
